Energy Pulse Background Effect

In this tutorial you will be creating a very abstract energy pulse background effect. This effect works great for signature, and banner backgrounds, as well as when it is incorporated into header designs. The steps to create this effect are very quick, and easy which makes this a great tutorial for people who are newer to photoshop, and don't have much exposure to the various filters and other elements that make Photoshop such a great tool for design and development. Here is an example of what we will be creating with this tutorial:

Step # 3
Go to Filter->Render->Difference Clouds.

Press and hold the CTRL button on your keyboard down, and press F five times to repeat the Difference Cloud filter 5 times.

Step # 4
Press CTRL + U on your keyboard to open up the Hue/Saturation tool.

Check the "Colorize Box" and apply the following settings:

Step # 5
Go to Filter->Artistic->Plastic Wrap and apply the following settings:

And that's all there is too it, here is what my final version came out like.

As you can see this tutorial is extremely easy, and the effect looks pretty futuristic, and cool. Try adjusting the colors used in step #4, and apply different filters other than the Plastic Wrap in step #5 to get completely different results. The key to perfecting your abilities with Photoshop is practice, exploration, and more practice.
