Here's a little thing about how I started out: [link]
Also, I just started an overall web design tutorial site here: [link]
Personally, I think Frontpage, Dreamweaver etc. are good for people who never plan to code. They free you up to concentrate on design only. But if you really want to be a web designer, you need to learn coding by hand, and in that case I'd say go directly to that instead of FP or DW.
On the PC you can use Notepad, but there are free code editors that will color-code things and make it much easier to spot problems. On the Mac, I'd recommend either Taco or TextWrangler, both free. |

| Not much of a gamer, but I'd guess you'd have to do some kind of masking to make the shadow look realistic.Like a dark layer on top of the main one, cutting out the parts you don't want covered. I know that's not very specific but I haven't done much masking. Others here have and hopefully they'll have a chance to help out. |

I agree with Dew on this one; you *could* use photoshop to just brush in a shadow..
However you asked about the whole body - the body wasn't done in photoshop, but a 3d rendering program. Probably 3dsmax which is pretty much industry standard for games these days. |
