| Okay so, I have this background, and I want to place an image on top, but the image has some different colors as background, how do I make it the same colors as the background? |

it depends on the image your changing...if you need to change the whole image go to hue/saturation or color balance under image>adjustmants or if you need to change just certain colors goto image>adjustments>replace color and then clickj jthe color you want to change with the dropper that comes up. then adjust the sliders to the color you want...hope that helps.

Good points Lizard;
Another quick option is change the blending mode of the layer with the image you'd like to "blend" into the background. You may need to try a few different blending modes out, but Screen works good for lighter/brighter images and Multiply/Darken seem to work good with darker ones. Overlay as well seems to work well with many images and graphics.
If you're not sure what l'm talking about; here's a screen cap:

Once you've changed the blending mode; another thing that helps is adjusting the opacity of the layer.
