I'm a huge fan of Star Trek so I made this background. It's not entirely accurate, but I was concerned with the galre. Can I get some tips on glare if anyone has any? Thanks!

Evil or Very Mad Yeh man the glare looks kinda shabby. This is how to make a more believable glare.

1. Create a new layer
2. Change the layer mode to screen.
3. With rectangular marquee tool select the area where you want the glare.
4. Modify the shape of the selected area as you want the shape of your glare.
5. Now add a transparent (top) to white (bottom)gradient on that layer.
6. Add a white inner glow in the layer styles and lower its opacity to 30%.
7. (Here is the coolest part) Just lower the fill(and not the opacity) of the layer to get the desired effect.

Lowering the fill will only cause the white gradient to fade but the layer style will stay unaffected.

and as Captain Jean Luc Picard would say "ENGAGE"!

you also should look at some real life pics to learn how glare works..... cause right now, the side veiw of your console would have to look like this in order to glare like that.

Have the glare fade off in one curve, and not a wave like that. It also helps if you only glare certain parts, and not the whole image.
