the only thing i can suggest is that you upload the images so you don't have to click on a link.
otherwise than that... i have a slight problem finding the tool in photoshop cs... maybe thats a reason why i'm wearing glasses... i don't know... |

I think it's in CS2 only, and l can't get the damin thing to work properly only button that's lit up after making my seleciton is CANCEL... lol too annoying.

If your looking for the Extract tool it's under the Filter menu at the top of the drop down menu.
When you select it it opens a big mother of a window.

You need to grab the paint bucket tool and feel the area you are going to keep and it should fill the area inside the green outline, I think it's green,,isn't it, with a purple color and then hit the okay button.
Let me know if it works, I haven't used it in awhile.

By the way! Colin Smith had a pretty good tut at photoshopcafe on doing some very precise extracting using that tool, at least I think it was him, I'll check it out.
