Photoshop newbie ..... help Im lost !

Hello and help.

Im really new to digital photography and photoshop, my forte is film, black and white to be exact, so am feeling kind of lost.
Iv scanned a photo in to my computer and need to sharpen the image, is this possible with Photoshop or am I just vainly hoping ?
If anyone can offer some help, Id be really gratefull.

yes its quite simple just open the image then go to filters and then on to sharpen
