Hey. I wanted to share this nice effect I found while plying around. It looked like you are facing up and the clouds look very real. Sorry, I don't have pics.
1. Make a new file. Pretty much any size will do, just make sure it's reasonable. I am using Default Photoshop Format. The background should be white.
2. Change the two colours that you have on your toolbar to a light blue (I like cyan for this) and white.
3. Go to Filters->Render->Clouds. You should have...blue clouds.
4. Now, go to Filters->Render->Difference Clouds. Your blue areas should now be red. If so, you have a good blue for this.
5. Repeat this about 8 more times. CTRL+F is a shortcut to do whatever filter you did last (Difference Clouds). The result MUST have the clouds as red.
6. Now, go to Layer->New Adjustement Layer->Gradient Map. My window (I have CS2) is called, at the top, 'New Layer' and there aren't any graphics on it. Again, sorry about no pics.
7. Click OK. Now, a new window comes up that is called 'Gradient Map'. There is one gradient menu on it. Click the gradient.
8. Now, another window comes that is called 'Gradient Editor'. This window is larger. At the top, there is a menu of gradients. Click on the little arrow for gradient presets and choose the one called 'Special Effects'. A new set of gradients is now visible. Choose the one that goes from white to blue to black.
9. Look at your image (select preview if it isn't selected). Now, there is a big gradient bar at the lower part of that window. Notice the little tabs at the bottom. Grab the dark-blue one and drag it around. Look at your image. Once satisfied (this will be the final result), press OK.
10. Press OK on the 'Gradient Map' window and you're done!
NOTE-Clearly, the results WILL vary, so if it doesn't look good, start over with another blue. The process isn't long at all, max 30 seconds.
Anyway, it looked too real not to tell the world about it. If this was made up, sorry, but I haven't seen or heard about it anywhere.
If someone could be kind enough to get the pics, that would rock!
Thanks. |

| Well you could do your own pictures. Just push "prt scrn" then create a new document and press ctrl + v to paste it. Then crop out the extra bits and host them on some image host. I highly recommend http://www.imageshack.us |

| I used to use photobucket, but then it started dropping files constantly and you notice that flea's sigs were out for the longest time. Also they only let you use up to 500kb files. Imageshack lets you go up to 1.5mb and i've never had a file dropped. |

| Meh. Well, it looked good, so I figured if anyone wanted to make clouds, they should know about this method. |
